What are the requirements to drive with Hitch?

At Hitch, we want to craft the best experience possible for riders and drivers. We have a few requirements for drivers to be approved on our platform.

Your car must meet the following:

Car Requirements (updated Jan 2026):

• Subcompact Vehicles, Compact Sedans, and Trucks are Not Allowed on the Hitch Platform.
• Mid-size sedans, all SUVs, and Vans must be 2016 or newer.
• Four Doors: ****This ensures room for luggage and riders alike.
• Clean, fully operational, and well-maintained.

Compact Sedans 2021-2026 & Trucks are allowed in College Station, TX.

These requirements ensure the riders' experience on long-distance travel is always top of mind.

Driver Requirements:

• License, Registration, and Insurance: Providing up-to-date and valid driver documents will allow the approval process to go smoothly.

• Industry Standard Background Check: To ensure we keep our community safe, we will run the following checks:

  • County Criminal Search (Current)

  • National Criminal Search (Standard)

  • Sex Offender Search

  • SSN Trace

  - Global Watchlist Search

  • This assures that we can keep our community safe.
